What we collect
- Analytics. Aggregate traffic data through the hosting platform’s built-in statistics: pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, browser and device type.
- Forms. Anything you type into Contact or Submit a Tip, including your name or alias, email address, message, and any file you attach.
- Newsletter. Your email address, and whether you opened or clicked, if you subscribe.
- Comments. Your display name, email address, comment text, and IP address, where commenting is enabled.
Why we collect it
To publish the site and see what people read, to answer correspondence and follow up tips, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to keep spam and abuse off the site. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Processors
The site runs on WordPress.com (Automattic Inc.), which processes hosting, analytics, form submissions, anti-spam filtering, and newsletter delivery on our behalf under its own privacy terms. If we move newsletter delivery to another provider, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.
Cookies
The platform sets cookies necessary to run the site and to measure traffic. Your browser can block or delete them; parts of the site may then behave oddly.
Retention
Form submissions and correspondence are kept for 12 months unless there is a live editorial or legal reason to keep them longer. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Material sent to us that we should not have received — confidential, classified, or unlawfully obtained — is deleted on identification.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Where UK or EU law applies, our lawful bases are consent for the newsletter and legitimate interests for analytics, correspondence, and site security. Write to admin@groundsfortreason.com and we will respond within the period the law allows.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
